My Story

Recital Picture

My name is Cherie Pomeroy and I am the founder of the Signs of Sound Piano Studio.  I am a native Arizonian, but studied Piano Pedagogy (Bachelors of Music) at Baylor University in Texas.  Our family moved to Scotland, Belgium, and Germany (living in Europe for 12 years), where I continued to teach piano and Musikgarten classes in English, French, and German, as my husband pursued his doctoral and post-doctoral education.  We have four lively and lovely children and are happy to now be here in Tennessee close to extended family.  I have been teaching lessons for 22 years (since 8th grade) in all different cultures and environments.   I am a nationally certified music teacher (NCMT), as well as a certified Musikgarten instructor.   I look forward to meeting you and your family as we explore a musical journey together.  What signs of sound await us?
